Subject: Disciplinary Hearing – Charlotte Kominsky (Class Terminale Scientifique 2)
Dear Madam Whiteridge,
We regret to inform you that your daughter, Charlotte Kominsky, a student in class Terminale Scientifique 2, has been involved in a serious disciplinary incident that occurred on Thursday, 15 November 2012, during a history lesson.
According to the statements collected, Charlotte physically assaulted another student, Kelly Royer, following a verbal altercation. The incident took place in the presence of her peers and teacher, and resulted in Ms Royer being hospitalised with a fractured nasal bone. The class delegate, Clarisse Kominsky, acted as a formal witness during the preliminary statement gathering.
In accordance with article R.511-13 of the French Code of Education, a disciplinary hearing was held on Friday, 16 November 2012 at 10:00 AM in the office of the Proviseur, to determine the appropriate course of action.

Summary of Hearing Findings
During the disciplinary council, Charlotte admitted to having struck Ms Royer during the aforementioned lesson. However, she refused to issue an apology, either written or verbal, despite repeated requests from the administration. Neither party was willing to disclose the cause of the argument. When questioned, Charlotte maintained silence, and Ms Royer (represented by her mother) declined to comment further.
This incident is not the first behavioural breach on record for Ms Kominsky, who has been subject to multiple temporary exclusions over the past two academic years for disruptive conduct and verbal disrespect toward faculty.
The council has taken into consideration the severity of the violence, the refusal to cooperate, and the student’s prior disciplinary record.
Outcome
By unanimous decision, it has been resolved that:
Charlotte Kominsky is excluded from school for a duration of 14 calendar days, effective from Monday, 19 November 2012 to Sunday, 2 December 2012 inclusive.
During this period, Charlotte will not be allowed on school premises, nor participate in any remote academic activity.
Additionally, we have strongly recommended that Charlotte engage in psychological counselling, either through the school’s student health services or an external provider of your choice. We remind you that repeated violence within a school setting may lead to permanent exclusion if further incidents occur.
Please be reminded that this letter constitutes part of her official student record and may be transmitted to educational authorities if deemed necessary.
We remain available to schedule a post-exclusion reintegration interview, and will expect Charlotte back in school on Monday, 3 December 2012.
